April 25 Float Flying Report
Hi All, We ended up with 11 people attending this weeks float fly and plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers. Mike Lawrence brought in Hot dogs, buns and soda plus chips, he did a lot of video taking along with Joe who has already posted them on line. Of course, I showed up at about 7:30AM and Wayne was unloading his Seamaster, so we started getting things ready, the boat, coffee and heat in the camp. The weather was not very cooperative for us. The wind was blowing quite a bit which was a little discouraging at first. So we ate an early lunch then the wind went down some and we started flying. Joe Gilbert had his Seamaster , Seamaster II, Drake II and got several flights in ,was tough for him to try and touch just the rudder with the waves. Art Aube brought his Lakemaster but didn't get it in the water but did stay to help Wayne cook the hot dogs. Sandy Turbyne had his Seawind but didn't get in the water. Wayne White did some cooking of the hot dogs and onions and than got several flights with his Seamaster, and he did several nice exhibition type flying ,one is a strange name that I won't even try to spell but he loves to do it and it looks like an out of control flip, but he has complete control. Larry Leathers had his Alpha 60 and tried to get in an early flight but we had to go retrieve it after the wind caught it. He later got in several good flights after lunch. He also had Wayne try his electric Cub on floats , the first try didn't end real good but after drying it out Wayne got it up and flew it but, they weren't very happy with the flight. Larry also brought Nick Bouley with him and it looks like we may have a new member soon. Paul Flohn tried to get his Seamaster going but the engine didn't want to stay running, so he decided to wait until he's sure what is wrong is corrected.Roland Woodworth brought paper plates and his Seamaster II which didn't see the water either. Bob Chapman brought his LT-40 and flew several flights with a lot of success and several close calls for most of us but not Bob. During the early part of the morning we had a lot of hanger talk as usual wile waiting for the wind to go down. Ron
