May 2 Float Flying Report
Boy, what a beauty of a day for float flying, very slight breeze to none. Got at camp at about 7:40 and started getting things ready, coffee on , life vest and gas tank in the boat and of course needed to warm up the motor. Joe got there first and took his Drake II out and got in a flight right off since the water was so calm. He also had his Seamaster II and Seamaster and had numerous flights in for the day. Than Roland showed up with his Wiga and took it right down for a flight, of course a breeze came up and flipped it, had to go out twice for the Wilga but he got several good flights in with that and than his Seamaster II, which he had Bob and Joe try out to help him get set up with his transmitter, he was happy with the final results and learned a little more about his transmitter. He also had a beautiful landing on his last flight which Joe got on camera. Art Aube came with his Lakemaster and flew several good flights with it, he fixed the problem he had last week. Paul showed up with his Seamaster and got in a couple of flights the last one we had to retrieve but I believe it was just minor repairs and he's ready to go again next time. Bob Chapman had his LT--40 with him and had several good flights , Than he got his Eagle out and launched it from the top of the hill, flew it around and than caught it at the top of the hill, I believe that Joe had some pictures of that also. Mattt Dyer came about 9:30 with his See Bee for the maiden flight and it flew real good, he had several flights with it and went home happy with the results. Well I got my PBY in the water and had a little problem so will see what I need to fix and try it this week sometime. The Drake II was giving me problems also but the water rudder was loose, fixed it with a little tape than had Bob fly it for me, he had it trimmed out and was flying pretty good but was at the end of the trim on the transmitter, so will take the adjustments and change those around and try that also. Mike Lawrence and I manned the retrieval boat and made 4 or 5 trips out. About 11AM we fired up the grill and feasted on the hot dogs, Art A and I cooked, he did the dogs and I did the rolls. Paul brought a package of dogs and rolls and we had some left from last week. We finished about 1 PM today with most happy with the day. Again Joe has posted the photo's on the web site. Ron
