January Snow Fly-In

Our first scheduled snow fly-in of the season was held on Jan 13 with temperatures around the mid thirties, a bit of a breeze from the south west and very foggy! I arrived just about 8:00 and got the fire going in stove. At the time, it was very foggy and no wind. The field had patches of snow and bare spots.

Made my first flight a shorty time later with my E-flite J-3 Cub. Had to stay very low so it wouldn't get lost in the fog. Larry was next to arrive and then it was a steady arrival of members. The following were present for at least some portion of the morning: Ron G., Barry T. and his son, Rob, Bob C., Roland, Don, Dave, Larry, Chris T., Chris D., Paul, John D., Mike L., Wayne, Jim G., and John and Brandon T., and myself. A total of eighteen! One of the best turnouts I've seen. I'm sure the mild weather was a factor. Many made flights during the foggy morning. We did add a tarp for shelter later as the breeze did pick up.

Wayne set up his propane stove for browning the rolls and Bob was the grill master cooking hot dogs and onions. A great meal. We put away everything and the last were driving out of the parking lot at 12:35. A great time had by all. Joe
